Sojitz Group undertakes activities to achieve responsible palm oil procurement in accordance with the following palm Oil Procurement Policy.
Palm Oil Procurement Policy
In accordance with the Sojitz Group Human Rights Policy and the Sojitz Group CSR Action Guidelines for Supply Chains, Sojitz Group is committed to making every effort, in cooperation with its business partners, to promote palm oil procurement in line with the following policy in order to realize sustainable palm oil procurement.
- Legality
We will procure palm oil that is produced in compliance with international law and applicable local laws and regulations in place at each production site. - Environmental Consideration
- We will not procure palm oil produced through the development of areas with High Conservation Values (HCVs), High Carbon Stock (HCS) areas, or peatlands.
- We will conduct our procurement practices with consideration for climate change and biodiversity.
- Consideration of Human Rights and Society
- We will ensure that our palm oil procurement practices do not relate to human rights violations such as the use of child labor or forced labor. We will procure palm oil through supply chains that respect the rights of both immigrant and domestic workers, including the freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining, the prohibition of discrimination, and occupational safety and health.
- We will procure palm oil through supply chains that respect the rights of indigenous peoples and local communities and that respect the principle of Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC).
- Responsible Supply Chain Management
Sojitz strives to ensure traceability in its supply chains, and we will promote palm oil procurement in line with the principle of No Deforestation, No Peat, No Exploitation (NDPE).

Scope
This policy covers all palm oil and palm kernel oil (collectively referred to as “palm oil”) handled by Sojitz Corporation and its consolidated subsidiaries. “Palm oil” as defined here does not include by-products, residues, or waste products derived from oil palm trees.
Procurement Targets for Palm Oils
Sojitz aims to ensure that 100% of palm oil handled by Sojitz Group is procured through supply chains that comply with Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) certification or equivalent standards.
Approach to Oil Palm Tree-derived By-products, Residues, Waste Products, and Other Products
As with our palm oil procurement, Sojitz Group will do its utmost to procure oil palm tree-derived by-products, residues, waste products, or other products derived from the oil palm tree in accordance with the provisions of this Palm Oil Procurement Policy.
