Business Overview

■ Commercial Aircraft Sales Consultant Business and Aircraft Asset Business

Sojitz has served as a sales agent for Boeing commercial aircraft for over 65 years since signing its first agreement with The Boeing Company in 1956. Sojitz has since collaborated with Boeing to supply passenger aircraft to airlines in Japan and currently holds the top share of the domestic market. With bases in Tokyo, Amsterdam, and Singapore, our aircraft leasing business handles operating leases, Japanese Operating Leases (JOLs), and post-sales management and remarketing of client-owned aircraft.

■ Business Jet Business

We are involved in consulting services for the purchase and sale of business jets, aircraft management, charter services, and maintenance support. Our focus also includes business jet and charter operations. Phenix Jet is at the core of our international business jet operations, while Japcon Group is engaged in domestic aircraft operations in Japan as another Group company under the Sojitz umbrella. We continue to make improvements to increase the reliability and efficiency of operations, which enables us to provide high-quality services to a large customer base. Additionally, we aim to expand our market share by further extending our reach into the Southeast Asia region.

■ Transportation Infrastructure Business

Sojitz is contributing to infrastructure development in India through collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on construction projects including a dedicated freight corridor between Delhi and Mumbai, and a high-speed railway between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. In May 2024, we joined a project to install and deliver an integrated railway system in Jakarta, Indonesia, and we will continue to develop projects in South and Southeast Asia.

In North America, we have been involved in the operation of a Canadian railcar MRO business since our initial investment in 2015. Sojitz also invested in a North American railcar leasing company in March 2021. Finally, Sojitz expanded MRO business locations through an investment in a U.S.-based MRO business in July 2024. Our goal going forward is to stabilize our earnings while broadening our scope of operations in North America so that we can leverage our accumulated expertise in a variety of ways.

■ Airport Management Business

We are actively involved in the airport management business, both overseas in countries including Palau and in Japan in locations such as Shimojishima and Kumamoto. The division aims to contribute to the revitalization of regional communities through steady expansion of existing airport business operations. We are using the experience gained from these businesses to strengthen our airport management and operation functions and working to achieve synergy with other Sojitz Group businesses, including the catering business, as we seek to expand our earnings foundation.

■ Industrial and Urban Infrastructure Businesses

We are developing and operating industrial parks in emerging Asian countries. Sojitz contributes to the sustainable development of local communities by providing high-quality utility services as well as supplying high-value-added digital transformation (DX) and decarbonization services. In the Indonesia’s Deltamas City, Sojitz is engaged in a comprehensive urban development project with ever-growing value that is well positioned for the future. The city integrates residential, commercial, industrial, administrative, educational, and medical facilities.
